'We Have Got to Stand up and Fight This Blood Sucking Law!'
Local residents applaud the House of Representatives' efforts to delay implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

Federal workers across the region woke up this morning and went to work, only to be given furlough instructions and be sent home for an indeterminate amount of time, thanks to the first government shutdown in 17 years.
Congress' inability to come to a consensus has left thousands of government workers with uncertain financial futures. However some local residents are applauding the efforts of the House of Representatives to delay implementation of the Affordable Care Act by tying it to the continuing resolution that would fund the government.
Some residents of the Edegwater-Davidsonville area were not overly concerned about the shut down, and said they hoped it would lead to the delay or defunding of the ACA.
"Despite all the hand-wringing heard in DC, a short-term government shut down (which doesn’t actually shut down the government) will not cause the country to collapse," wrote Tim McArdle on the Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch Facebook Page.
Delaying, or even defunding, Obamacare would be to the benefit of the American people, he said.
"Obamacare saddles the American health care system with new spending and mandates, which will raise the price and lower the quality of health care. Denying funds to this program may give Congress time to replace this bill with free-market reforms that put patients and physicians back in charge of health care. Defunding the bill before it becomes implemented can spare the American people from falling under the worst effects of this law. Constituents are finally realizing this and speaking out - we should be marching down Constitution Avenue honestly..." McArdle wrote.
Several Facebook users agreed with his sentiments.
"Tim I will join you in the march, well said!" wrote Emily Neimiller Russell. "We have got to stand up and fight this blood sucking law! Thank God for some Senators who aren't too chicken to fight for us!" she later added.
"I agree Emily Russell Tim knows what he's talking about," wrote Kristin Cline Walter.
Not everyone was on board with McArdle's post.
"The four of you do realize that Ronald Reagan proposed a healthcare law that is pretty much the same as Obamacare right? I agree that it needs to be polished and fixed, but when it is, it will be something hopefully everyone will appreciate and it will actually save the government and the people money," wrote David McAteer.
Valerie Salisbury Smith expressed her outrage at congress, who will continue to get paid through the shut down due to provisions on the 27th Amendment.
"IF congress really wanted to make a point and fight FOR us then they would freeze their OWN pay!! They are toying with the lives of the working class government employees, ( who are actually trying to do their jobs). If they are that adamant about passing or denying the ACA then why don't they show it by freezing Congressional pay until they figure it out and let the rest of us get on with our lives so we can pay our mortgages and feed our children?!?!" Smith wrote.
