What's Going On: Bootcamp for Boobies, Pumpkin Chunkin'

- 2nd Annual Bootcamp for Boobies—The Maryland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is hosting its second annual “Bootcamp for Boobies” that invites the community to work out and raise money for cancer research. About 50-60 people are expected to attend the special event at Crofton’s Future of Fitness training center. Local radio DJs will attend and the event seeks to raise $15,000 for research. Event is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Lothian Pumpkin Chunkin’—Located at 24 Nutwell Rd., the “Fall Fest at the Farm” is hosting a pumpkin chunkin’ event open to the community. Attendants are asked to bring non-perishable food items that will benefit a south county food bank. The fair will also have a putting contest, straw mazes, cornhole and a raffle. Also, food! Event is on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Moving Sale and Open House in Shady Side—A local woman is downsizing and needs to sell lots of stuff. She has an overstuffed chair and ottoman, small table, small tole-painted chest, pictures, pottery, dishes, collectibles, ladies golf club set and more. Most items can be found inside the house. - Mayo Kiwanis Halloween Party—Community members are invited to attend the Halloween party from 6-8 p.m. at 1133 Carrs Wharf Rd. in Edgewater.
- RBI 2012 JV Fall Baseball Playoffs Begin—Come out to see some of the best young baseball talent throughout the county compete at Riva Park in Davidsonville. Games begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and go all the way through the weekend. Games are free to attend.
- Island Tanning on Mayo Road Opens—A new tanning salon is hitting the Edgewater business landscape, located at 171-B Mayo Road. To set up an appointment and get discounts for the new business, call 410-956-0559.
