Winter Finally Arrives?

The miniature river by Panera in Edgewater was frozen solid. I even walked on it.

As someone who lived in the warm climate of Orlando, FL, I don't "do" winter.

Sure, I enjoy light flurries as much as the next guy, but if it's just cold and there's nothing pretty to look at, I'm a Scrooge. And unfortunately for me, it appears winter has finally arrived to Anne Arundel County.

After unnaturally high temperatures over the last few weeks, this weekend brought frigid lows and the evidence is all around us.

As I headed into to kick-off my Monday, I noticed the "mini river" that flows by the restaurant was completely frozen over. I took a few steps out onto the glossy platform but a few quick cracks spooked me and I leapt off the water. (People in Panera must think I'm crazy).

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the winter weather will continue all week for the Edgewater-Davidsonville area.

The NWS is calling for a mix of snow and rain Tuesday with temperatures ranging from 29 to 50 degrees all week. More rain is expected on Thursday but the weekend might allow me to thaw with an expected high of 51 degrees.

If you see someone walking around town with two coats, a large snow hat and four scarves, it's probably me.

Don't bother waving, I'll have so many layers on I won't be able to move my arms
