Flemming’s background in wrestling prepared him to teach excellent technique and raise the level of all his athletes, both novices and longtime varsity wrestlers. He started wrestling at Germantown Academy in Philadelphia and wrestled for National Wrestling Hall of Famer Sam Case at Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College). After college, Mike accepted a position at Liberty High School where he taught English and was the wrestling coach assistant. He started a 17-year run as Head Varsity Coach three years later. During his time at Liberty, his record included an outstanding 254 wins.

Flemming came to Westminster High School in 2015, where his teams
scored another 103 wins. He has produced 31 County Champions and 12 Regional
Champions and qualified 64 wrestlers for the State Tournament, where 12 became
State Finalists and 5 were State Champions. Flemming also is active in the Mat
Rats Junior League in Westminster.

Mike served as an assistant coach for the Maryland Junior and
Cadet National Team for two years and is on the Board of Directors. He also has
done administrative work for USA Wrestling, the Maryland State Wrestling
Association, and the Maryland Junior League.
