'SYK': A New Emblem for Sykesville
Will you be able to get your hands on the new "SYK" merchandise before it sell out?

Cars in the U.S. started sporting the white oval bumper stickers with three black letters more than 10 years ago with the initials "OBX" for one of the most popular beach destinations on the East Coast–the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
In hopes to spread that same town pride, advocates of Sykesville's Main Street recently introduced their own spin on the sticker with the "SYK" emblem, and people are already starting to share their excitement on Facebook.

And that's exactly what the makers of the design had in mind.
"It has such a well known look about it that we thought it would really catch on," said Ivy Wells, manager of Sykesville Main Street.
Wells said the price has not been finalized, but she thinks they will be available through the mail for $5 and at the Thursday outdoor concerts for $3 starting this week.
Only 2,000 decals have been printed so far, but plans are in the works for making the "SYK" decal available on shirts and other merchandise in the near future, according to Wells.
According to StickerCafe.com, the three-letter style originated as a tracking mechanism organized by the United Nations, in order to observe transportation patterns between countries.
