EFI Hosts 15th Annual Bastille Day Fundraiser

The fundraiser will benefit the Johns Hopkins Children's Center Pediatric Trauma and Burn Unit and will take place on Jul. 14.

From EFI:The Elkridge Furnace Inn (EFI) will host its 15th Annual Bastille Day fundraiser to benefit the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center Pediatric Trauma and Burn Unit on Friday, July 14 from 6:30 to 10:00 pm. The event will be held at EFI, 5745 Furnace Avenue, Elkridge, Maryland, and is open to the public. Tickets cost $85/person.

The evening will have a live jazz band, New Orleans fare and wine and beer. There will also be a silent auction with many items to bid on including: private cooking lessons for up to six guests with Chef Daniel Wecker, a home pizzeria package donated by Chef Wecker’s brother Don which consists of a portable wood-fired pizza oven with a carrying case, a pizza peel and pizza cutter and ingredients to create your own pizza and many other items. The auction will be available for online bidding starting July 8.

EFI hosts this event in partnership with the John’s Hopkins Children’s Center with all proceeds going to the Pediatric Trauma and Burn Unit, funding several programs and services. The event holds special meaning to the Wecker family, the owners of EFI, as two of their children were treated at the Hopkins Pediatric Unit for a rare auto-immune disease.

“The undying gratitude of the Wecker family has never wavered. The passion they have shown towards this event is second to none, in fact each year it gets bigger and better. Chef Dan, Donna, and their children Genelle, Mathias and Cameron are not just friends of the pediatric trauma and burn program, they are family. Thanks to their philanthropy, our team is able to conduct ongoing research to ensure we are meeting best practices in injury prevention, trauma and burn care,” said Dr. Susan Ziegfield, Manager of the Pediatric and Burn Program at Johns Hopkins.

"It is with deep gratitude that Dan and I are hosting our 15th annual fundraiser for the John's Hopkins Children's Center. They were there when we needed them, giving care that went above and beyond,” said Donna Wecker, Co-owner.
