Howard County Asks Residents to Conserve Water

Baltimore City water main project may mean low pressure, outages for Howard County.

The Howard County Department of Public Works announced Friday that the upcoming repair of a major water delivery main in Baltimore City may result in a water shortfall in the coming weeks.

Repairs to the main are scheduled to begin Tuesday, July 3, and are expected to take two to three weeks to complete.

Howard County is warning residents that during those weeks, they may experience low water pressure and possible water outages.

From July 3 through the project's completion, the Department of Public Works suggests curbing noncritical water use:

  • Shift clothes and dish washing to morning hours.
  • Run washing machines and dishwashers with full loads.
  • Minimize lawn watering and car washing.
  • Take short showers.
  • Do not top off pools unless absolutely necessary.
