HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Seven students with the Howard County Public School System have been selected to participate in the National Association for Music Education’s bi-annual Eastern Division Conference All-Eastern Honor Ensembles.
They are:
- Claire Lee, Howard High School: Orchestra
- Mischa Nowrangi, River Hill High School: Mixed Choir
- Lily Pang, Wilde Lake High School: Treble Choir
- Jaiden Puthenkalam, Glenelg High School: Mixed Choir
- Kevin Yue, Centennial High School: Concert Band
- Hayden Zhang, Guilford Park High School: Concert Band
To be considered, students had to meet several criteria, including having participated in the Maryland All State Ensembles the previous year as 10th or 11th graders. Several hundred Maryland students were eligible to apply for the All-Eastern Honor Ensembles, from which 33 were selected. Those students – including the seven from HCPSS – traveled to Hartford, Connecticut, to rehearse and perform in conjunction with the 2025 NAfME Eastern Division Conference.
