Bus Collision on Route 40 Sends One to Shock Trauma

A man was taken to shock trauma after his car was struck by a bus on Marriottsville Road near Route 40 on Wednesday afternoon.

A man was transported to Shock Trauma after the Honda Civic he was driving was struck by a bus on Marriottsville Road Wednesday around 3 p.m.

The man suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Police said the bus was coming from the Woodstock Job Corps Center, traveling eastbound on Route 40 when the driver made a lefthand turn onto Marriottsville Road, striking a Honda Civic being driven by the man.

The man and the bus driver were not identified by police.

Police said there were 8 to 10 teenagers on the bus, only two of whom were under the age of 18. No one on the bus was seriously injured, according to police.

Marriottsville Road at Route 40 is closed while police investigate the incident.

The accident is one of multiple bus collisions over the past week in Howard County. On June 5, a bus hit a van on Centennial Lane injuring five children and four adults, according to police. A minor collision was reported by police on Tuesday after a van and bus side-swiped each other on Cedar Lane in Columbia.
