Carjacking Reported In Columbia + Employee Assaulted: HCPD
Two men reported being carjacked in Columbia and a store employee told police she was pepper sprayed by people believed to be shoplifting.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A man attempted to carjack two other men in a parking lot located in the 9700 block of Broken Land Parkway.
The incident happened Jan. 25 around 2:20 a.m. in Columbia, according to the Howard County Police Department. The two men told police that they were in the parking lot when a man climbed into their vehicle, threatened and assaulted one of the victims, then took off in the vehicle with one of the two men still inside. The suspected carjacker got out of the vehicle a short distance away and took off on foot. No serious injuries were reported, the police department stated.
In other police news, an employee of the Smoke Zone, located in the 4800 block of Waterloo Road in Ellicott City, reported that three suspects with their faces partially covered went into the business around 9:30 p.m., indicated they had a weapon and stole merchandise. Police later found the suspects and arrested a 17-year-old from Columbia and two 15-year-olds from Ellicott City and Elkridge. They've been charged with armed robbery, assault, theft and motor vehicle theft.

An employee at the Marshalls store located in the 9000 block of Snowden River Parkway in Columbia reported being approached by two suspects who she believed had stolen merchandise, according to police. One suspect pepper sprayed her then took off with the merchandise. The incident happened Jan. 27 around 1:30 p.m.
On Jan. 24 between 2:40 and 8 a.m., police said two suspects were found in the fitness room of Mission Place Apartments, located in the 8100 block of Washington Boulevard in Jessup. They had gained access by forcing open a door. Police arrested Alonzo Williams, 33, and Olivia Cartwright-Cole, 34, of Washington, D.C., and charged them with burglary and destruction of property.

A suspect broke a glass door and stole cash from the Elkridge Taco Bell located in the 6200 block of Washington Boulevard on Jan. 25 at 7:05 a.m.
A suspect stole cash from Pizzeria Santa Lucia in Jessup in the overnight hours of Jan. 26-27. The pizza eatery is located in the 8600 block of Washington Boulevard, Jessup.
A suspect broke the front glass door of Oakland Mills Liquors and stole cash and alcohol in the overnight hours of Jan. 26-27. The store is located in the 5800 block of Robert Oliver Place.
