Columbia Woman Hit By SUV While In Dewey Beach, Delaware

A Howard County woman was hit by an SUV while in the crosswalk of Coastal Highway in Dewey Beach, Delaware, on Labor Day weekend.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 28-year-old Howard County woman was injured Saturday night in Dewey Beach, Delaware, after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing Coastal Highway.

According to Dewey Beach Police, officers were called to the northbound lanes of Coastal Highway near Dagsworthy Avenue around 7:20 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, for a report of a pedestrian crash Labor Day weekend. They discovered that the 28-year-old Columbia woman had been hit by an SUV while crossing the street. She was taken to Beebe Medical Center with injuries that weren't life-threatening, police said.

According to police, video surveillance showed the crosswalk lights were fully operational at the time of the incident, and investigators determined that the driver was at fault. The driver remained at the scene, cooperated with law enforcement and was issued multiple traffic summonses before being released, police said.
