Commercial Building Fire Reported In Elkridge

Crews spent an hour battling a blaze inside a commercial building in Elkridge. They believe it was sparked by a mechanical malfunction.

ELKRIDGE, MD — Howard County firefighters were dispatched Tuesday around 5:20 p.m. to a commercial building located in the 7100 block of Kit Kat Road for a report of a fire.

Crews found a fire within the waste conveyor system of a large commercial building. It took firefighters around an hour to gain control of the blaze. The cause of the fire was reportedly due to a mechanical malfunction, the fire department stated.

No injuries were reported.
