Dog Rescued From Water-Filled Manhole In Woodbine Reunited With Owner

A German shepherd stuck in a water-filled manhole over the weekend has been rescued and reunited with its owner, officials report.

WOODBINE, MD — Firefighters have been credited with saving a dog that had become trapped in a manhole filled with water this past weekend.

According to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, crews were called to the 14600 block of Carrs Mill Road in Woodbine for a report of a dog stuck in a pipe.

After he was extricated from the manhole, the dog was taken to Fire Station 13 across the street where he remained until Howard County Animal Control arrived to pick up the German shepherd, the fire department posted on Facebook.

Seth Hoffman, public information officer for the Howard County Police Department, told Patch that the dog was returned to its owner on Saturday.

"Animal control checked in today and the dog is doing well," Hoffman said.
