19-Year-Old Elkridge Man Killed After Colliding With Car, Crashing Into Pole And Fence

A 19-year-old driver from Elkridge has died after colliding into another vehicle then hitting a telephone pole and a fence.

JESSUP, MD — A young man died in the early morning hours Saturday after the vehicle he was driving hit another vehicle, left the road, then crashed into a telephone pole and a fence. The vehicle involved in the crash did not remain at the scene.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., a 2013 Nissan Altima was heading northbound in the 8000 block of Washington Boulevard when it hit a dark-colored sedan entering the road from the Super 8 Motel. The Altima then left the road and crashed into a telephone pole and fence. The sedan failed to remain at the scene, continuing northbound on Washington Boulevard, according to Howard County Police.

The man driving the Altima, Tonny Otieno, 19, of Elkridge, was pronounced dead at the scene. Washington Boulevard was closed at Lincoln Drive for approximately 3.5 hours overnight. Police continue to investigate the incident.
