Please describe the individual’s military service.
Louis Schott was a WWII veteran who was a member of the USMC 1st division. His was part of the 1st wave for Pelelui and Okinawa battles. He was wounded on Pelelui & earned a Silver Star in Okinawa for taking an objective they have previously lost several men attacking. He has always told us his proudest moment was being commissioned a 2nd Lt. in USMC. He spent 20 years in USMC reserves. His dedication to family meant everything to him. At 5'6" he was at first unsuccessful in enlisting but tried again and made it in. He could walk into room of strangers and by the end of the evening have several new friends that felt they had always known him. He passed away 2 years ago at the age of 102 and is survived by his 5 daughters and several grand-children and great-grandchildren.

Not the stereo-typical marine. Most affable guy ever. Rarely discussed his service until his later years when it became an important focus. He volunteered much time for different causes during his retirement.
