The Howard County resident turned in a $50,000 winning ticket and a $10,000 winner.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — An Ellicott City man experienced an amazing stroke of luck when the 61-year-old bought two winning scratch-off tickets in two days. The man turned in a $50,000 winning ticket from the $5,000 Loaded scratch-off game and a $10,000 winner in the Bonue Bingo X20 game.

Earlier this month the lucky Howard County resident, who works in finance, awoke frantically thinking he overslept and was late for work, he told the Maryland Lottery. When he realized he had time to spare, he stopped at the Dash In at 9075 Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City before he started work for the day. He purchased a handful of scratch-off games.

“It’s kind of messy to scratch off the games, so I just scan the tickets to see if I win,” said the father of one college student. “I just could not believe it when I saw the message that I won $50,000.”

The lucky winner wanted to be sure, so he had the cashier check the ticket, and his big win was confirmed. He then went to the lottery’s website and saw that he needed to make an appointment to claim the prize, which he did. He put the ticket away and went to work. Later that evening, at home, he shared the exciting news with his wife.

The very next day, on his way home from work he stopped at Normandy Wine and Spirits at 8492 Baltimore-Washington Pike in Ellicott City and purchased another handful of scratch-offs. Again, he scanned the tickets’ prize check codes instead of scratching them. But his eyes grew big when the ticket revealed a $10,000 win.

“Unbelievable,” laughed the winner. “I just could not believe I won again.”
