HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Meet Patch's Adorable Adoptable Pets of the Week available from the Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center.

Eleven-month-old Nala happens to be a mixed breed dog with some American pit bull terrier in her. The shelter describes her as a lovebug, energetic, playful and protective. She did well with gentle children and gets along well with other dogs, too. She's crate trained and has been able to be left alone in the house for up to 8 hours. Nala doesn't mind car rides, walks and chasing after sticks. Due to landlord and insurance pet policies, Nala’s adoption requires her next family to own their home. A fenced-in yard currently is required for her; however, if your yard is not fenced, you can give us a call at the shelter to see if your home situation would be a good match for her.

Maybel the hen was found wandering around, so a good Samaritan scooped her up and took her to the shelter. She's active and enjoys foraging for bugs. She appears to be a young adult and loves to snack on mealworms, as well as roost on her branch. She isn't accustomed to being held, but once picked up, Maybel settles down and relaxes in your arms.
