A Glen Burnie man who fought with a security guard at Green Valley Marketplace, and was then shot by another guard, has been charged.
ELKRIDGE, MD — A man who fought with a security guard outside an Elkridge grocery store, and was then shot by another security guard, has been released from a hospital and charged, Howard County police say.
Rasheed Franklin, 30, of Glen Burnie, was released from University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and charged with first- and second-degree assault, police said Monday. He is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
Police said Franklin was stopped by a security guard who had confronted him outside Green Valley Marketplace in the 7200 block of Montgomery Road on Friday afternoon. It is unclear what led to the initial confrontation.

Witnesses and security camera footage showed that Franklin assaulted a 62-year-old security guard, who suffered a head injury. The guard was treated at Shock Trauma and releases.
A security supervisor saw the assault and shot Franklin once, a police news release said. The supervisor was not hurt in the confrontation.
