JESSUP, MD — Sign up now for the 3rd Annual Reindeer Run 5K hosted by the Guilford Park High School Boosters.
Starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, this year's course will "get a little rocky," organizers say, as the route winds through the Savage Stone quarry.
"Our cross country team has ran this course once and the views as you run out of Guilford Park and into the quarry are unbelievable. If you've heard of a Crusher Run, then this is exactly that. Run through the quarry, past heavy equipment massive piles of rock and around the entire quarry while looking at these amazing sites," said event organizer Michael Wilson, vice president of the booster club.

There's still time to register for the event at a cost of $30 and still open spots for volunteers. Wilson told Patch that the course winding through the quarry is perfect for runners and walkers, stroller friendly but not open to dogs.
Top finishers can win an assortment of prizes, including Road Runner gift cards. There's also an award for the best holiday-themed running gear/costumes, Wilson said.
