Security Guard Injured, Man Shot In Fight Outside Green Valley Marketplace
A security guard was injured and a man shot during a fight outside Green Valley Marketplace in early Friday afternoon, police say.
ELKRIDGE, MD — An armed security guard was injured during a fight Friday early afternoon outside the Green Valley Marketplace.
According to the Howard County Police Department, officers were called to the shopping center located on Montgomery Road in Elkridge. Investigator say the fight happened around 12:40 p.m. and a security guard sustained a head injury.
A second security guard fired a gun at the man involved in the fight with the other security guard, hitting him. Both the injured security guard and the man, who has been identified as 30-year-old Rasheed Franklin of Glen Burnie, were taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The security guard who fired his weapon is unharmed and is cooperating with police, the police department stated.

Franklin has since been released from the hospital and charged with first- and second-degree assault. He is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center. The injured security guard also has been released from the hospital.
