What's Open, Closed In Ellicott City For Labor Day 2025

Discover what's open and what's closed on Labor Day in Howard County, including when your trash will be picked up.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Howard County government offices, courts, animal shelter, 50+ centers and the Alpha Ridge Landfill will be closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday.

Because there won't be Monday curbside trash, recycling, yard trim or food scrap collection on Labor Day, the county’s holiday "slide” schedule will be in effect for the rest of the week.

While county parks and the Roger Carter Community Center will be open Monday, the RCCC will close early at 5 p.m. on Labor Day. The Cedar Lane and Schooley Mill activity rooms, Gary J. Arthur and North Laurel Community Centers, Kiwanis-Wallas Hall, Meadowbrook Athletic Complex, Robinson Nature Center, county historic sites and the Harriet Tubman Cultural Center will be closed on Labor Day.

The Regional Transportation Agency will operate on a “Sunday” schedule. All Howard County parking regulations and fees will be in effect on Labor Day.

The 9-1-1 Center, police and fire departments will be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For emergencies, call 9-1-1. For non-emergencies, call 410-313-2200.

The Howard County Public School System will be closed Monday for Labor Day including school buildings and offices.

All branches of the Howard County Library System will be closed Monday.
