ELLICOTT CITY, MD — For more than 26 years, Marylanders have participated in the Y Turkey Trot Charity 5K held on Thanksgiving morning.

There are six locations for participants to choose from - Arnold, Baltimore City, Bel Air, Ellicott City, Towson and Westminster - as well as a virtual option. The event kicks off at 8 a.m. and anyone interested in joining in the fun can register at yturkeytrot.org.

“The very act of so many people coming together for a morning of exercise, community and family bonding while supporting the Y’s critical community work is awe-inspiring on so many levels. The Y Turkey Trot reaffirms the vital importance of health and human connection which is so fundamental to individual and community well-being,” commented John Hoey, president and CEO of the Y in Central Maryland.

Proceeds from the annual Turkey Trot enable families who struggle financially to participate in Y programs. The Y also collects food donations from participants to support the Y’s four Fresh Mart food pantries around the region providing Thanksgiving groceries for families in the region who are food insecure.

Volunteers also are needed the day of the event and week in advance. Those interested in volunteering can visit yturkeytrot.org.
