Eastern Tech Engineering Students Overall Champs in State MESA Competition
Students take home awards in several categories in statewide event.

Engineering juniors and seniors from Eastern Technical High School participated in the State MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) earlier this month and came away with several awards.
Students from across the state competed in four categories at the event, held at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab in Laurel: wood bridge, cargo plane, communications and wind energy.
Eastern Tech did not represent Baltimore County in the wind energy competition, but participated in the remaining contests. The communications team gave a very persuasive and professional presentation on the use of wind power, winning second place for their efforts.

The wood bridge team outperformed all other designs to take first place. Their bridge measured 20 grams and was able to support a load of 22,520 grams before breaking. This is more than 1,100 percent efficient. Eastern Tech won the prize of overall champions award for the state of Maryland in MESA.
