Essex Crime: Bernie's Liquors Burglarized

Someone broke into a Middle River liquor store late last week and got away with more than $30,000 in cash and checks, police said.
According to police reports, some time between 9:20 p.m. March 28 and 6:15 a.m. March 29, someone cut the lock to the front door of , located on the 1400 block of Martin Blvd., went into the store’s office and stole a safe containing the cash and checks.

Police said the safe contained $12,137 in cash and $18,000 in checks. According to police reports, the phone lines to the store were cut and no alarm was sounded. In addition, there was no suspect description available at this time.

Brunswick Road, 800 block, between 8 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. March 29: An Xbox video game console and various DVDs were stolen after someone kicked in a door to enter a home. Total loss: $400.
Bladen Road, 100 block, between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. March 29: A weed wacker was stolen after someone stole it from the back yard of a fenced-in property. Total loss: $400.
Bowleys Quarters Road, 400 block, between 8:10 a.m. and 5:36 p.m. March 26: A desktop computer, two laptop computers and tax papers were stolen after someone entered a home through a basement window. Total loss: $2,403.
