Essex Crime: Teddy Bear Stolen on Valentine's Eve

Apparently someone was desperate for a last-minute Valentine’ s Day gift.

Someone smashed the front window and stole a plush Teddy bear (valued at $99) Monday night at the , located on the 100 block of Orville Road in Middle River, according to police reports.

Police said the theft occurred between 7 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. after a report that the alarm had gone off at the store. The damage to the window was not large enough for someone to enter and the bear appears to be the only thing stolen, according to the report.

The store’s owner told police the business did not have any video surveillance and there were no witnesses available to be interviewed.

Windlass Road, 10500 block, between 4 p.m. Feb. 11 and 7:20 a.m. Feb. 13. A basement flooded after someone pried open a basement door and cut out copper piping which caused water to leak for two days. Total loss: $3,740.

Covered Wagon Road, 100 block, 11:30 p.m. Feb. 11. A front door to a trailer home was damaged after someone tried to pry it open. No suspect information is available.

Franklin Ave., 600 block, between 8:09 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Feb. 9. A digital camera and a PlayStation 3 were stolen after someone kicked in the door to a home. Total loss: $600.

Windsail Drive, 1200 block, between 3 p.m. Feb. 5 and 9 a.m. Feb. 9.Three washing machines were damaged and an unknown amount of money was stolen from the coin boxes. Total loss: $300.
