Gas Prices Inch Closer to $4 a Gallon
The average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded is at a record level for this time of year, according to AAA.

Gas prices continue to surge at a record pace as springtime approaches this week.
AAA reports that the average price for fuel is at its highest level ever for this time of year. According to AAA’s latest survey, the average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.84 on Sunday, up five cents in a week and 30 cents over the same period a year ago.

In Maryland, the average cost of regular unleaded spiked to $3.87 Sunday, up 9 cents from a week ago and 31 cents over the same time period a year ago, the AAA survey reports.

According to a AAA news release, the average price to fill up at the pump could spike to a record $4.25 this spring, shattering the old record of $4.11 a gallon in July 2008. But, the release continues, prices should begin to retreat over the second half of the year.
