UPDATE (11:06 a.m.)—No one was injured but officials locked down after a student brought a gun to class Tuesday morning.

County police searched the building, but students were not dismissed early, according to a statement released by Baltimore County police.

Police released few details ahead of a 2 p.m. news conference in Towson with Chief of Police Jim Johnson, County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and schools Superintendent Dallas Dance.

An eighth grade student brought the weapon to school. School officials confiscated the weapon. The circumstances surrounding how officials found out about the weapon remain unknown at this time.

Many parents reacted later Tuesday morning and afternoon by .

"It's just too much to know that anything could happen. School's not as safe as it used to be, and I can't have my daughter in there without knowing what's going on," said parent , who took her daughter, sixth-grader Briel Bynum, out of school around noon.

The incident came two weeks after a that occurred on the first day of classes in Baltimore County.

Daniel Borowy, 17, who was injured in the shooting, was released from Shock Trauma Monday.
