Kenwood Sports Science Students Ask the Experts

The Sports Science Academy at offers students from across the county a chance to take courses in preparation for a sports-related career.

Those in the academy are interested in fields ranging from college athletic administration and physical therapy to health education and sports journalism.

As part of their studies, Kenwood teacher and magnet coordinator Jennifer Barrett invited several professionals in a sports-related field to speak to a group of about 40 students on Thursday morning at the Essex school.

Following a brief introduction, the students had a chance to speak with several of the professionals with hopes of gaining a better understanding of the sports professions.

Those invited to speak were:

• Ron Snyder - Essex-Middle River Patch Editor
• Marie DeMarco - Dietitian
• Nancy Hanlin - Massage Therapist/owner of Relax and Renew and retired teacher/coach
• Floyd Kerr - Morgan State Athletic Director
• Keith Mills - sportscaster/radio host for WBAL-TV, WBAL-AM and 98 Rock
• Mike Preston - columnist for The Baltimore Sun
• John Rallo - MMA instructor/promoter
• Judith Stein - Physical Therapist, Kennedy Krieger
• Harsh Thakkar - Para-Athlete
• Andy Warner - Assistant Director - Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association
