Lacrosse: CCBC Essex Opens Season with Big Win

Sophomore midfielder Neil Hutchinson scored five goals and has two assists as CCBC Essex opened its season with a 19-4 victory Saturday over visiting Northern Virginia Community College.

The Knights dominated the game from the start as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter. CCBC Essex eventually extended the lead to 14-1 at halftime and never looked back.

Among those first quarter goals was a score by freshman attack Andy Thrasher (), who scored the first of his four goals just 1:21 into the game. Midfielder Rocco Piliero and attack Robert Rupp (Baltimore Lutheran) added two goals each for the Knights.

In addition, freshman attack Ty Kashur had two assists, while Brent Hiken () won 6-of-6 faceoff opportunities and goalie Brian Beatson had four saves for CCBC Essex.

CCBC Essex returns to action at 1 p.m. on March 4 when it hosts County College of Morris.
