Men's Soccer: CCBC Essex Season Comes to Abrupt End

The Knights run of consecutive Region XX titles ends at four after losing to the College of Southern Maryland Wednesday on penalty kicks.

CCBC Essex's hope of getting back to the NJCAA Division I national tournament came to an abrupt end on Wednesday.

College of Southern Maryland upset the Knights in the Region XX semifinals at Anne Arundel Community College. The two teams tied 0-0 after two overtimes, but College of Southern Maryland advanced to the championship match after outscoring CCBC Essex 4-2 on penalty kicks.

The loss put the Knights in unfamiliar territory as they had won the Region XX title every year from 2007-10 and advanced to the national tournament twice.
