Officer-Involved Shooting in Middle River

Baltimore County Police was responding to an alleged assault when the suspect in the case was shot once by an officer, according to police.

MIDDLE RIVER, MD. — A Baltimore County officer has been assigned to administrative duty after the officer shot a man who police describe as an assault suspect.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of Wampler Road regarding an assault. Two assault victims were found at the scene and transported to an area hospital. Their injuries were not life threatening.

The suspect was found in the basement of a home in the 300 block of Grovethorn Road. According to a release, officers say the officer shot the suspect once. The suspect reportedly had a knife and had some cut marks on his neck that investigators believe were self-inflicted.

The suspect was transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment.

The officer will be on administrative duty while the shooting is reviewed.

This incident is under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit, which investigates all police involved shootings. Results of the investigation will be sent to the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office for review.
