Police Catch Tire Thieves in Essex

Two men were arrested last week for allegedly breaking into Ariana's New and Used Tires for the second time in a week, police said.

Two men were arrested last week for allegedly trying to steal more than two dozen tires from an Essex store.

Ronald T. Thach, 33, of the 8100 block of Bletzer Road and Robert M. Zeman, 33, of the 7200 block of Hughes Ave., were arrested around 11:30 p.m. on March 9 while allegedly taking the tires from , located on the 700 block of Eastern Blvd.

According to police reports, Thach was arrested following a brief foot pursuit while Zeman was arrested in a car near the business.

The store’s owner called 911 to report the burglary after witnessing the theft via a live video feed from his computer, according to the report. The owner told police he suspects at least one of the men was responsible for cutting through a fence and stealing 40 tires just two days earlier.
