2 Fallston Kids Recognized For Community Service

The Fallston youth, ages 10 and 16, were recognized through the Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program.

Two young people from Fallston were among 47 in the state rewarded for volunteer efforts through the Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program.

Hannah Donohue, age 10 and Ellie Vacovsky, age 16, both of Fallston, were awarded $50 gift cards and certificates for their local volunteer efforts, according to the program's website.

The Fallston girls were not the only Harford County residents to earn the award. Alyssa Edwards, age 9, of Joppa and Amanda Brannan, age 16, of Churchville were also local winners.

Mackenzie Klepsig, age 9, of Churchville went on to win a $1,000 regional scholarship through the program.

"Mackenzie serves as a survivor ambassador for the American Heart Association and a spokesperson for Jump Rope For Heart to help schools organize and fundraise through their own Jump Rope For Heart events," the website states.

The program is now in its 13th year. Out of 200 regional winners, like Mackenzie Klepsig, 10 national winners will receive a total of $10,000 in scholarships, and Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s behalf.
