GAITHERSBURG, MD — Two people were injured Saturday in a crash on Sam Eig Highway in Gaithersburg.Montgomery County police said a collision involving two vehicles happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. on westbound Sam Eig Highway at Fields Road. According to police, a Jeep Compass struck a Toyota Corolla at the location. Both drivers remained at the scene.A female passenger in the Toyota was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The woman driving the Toyota was also hospitalized after suffering non-life-threatening injuries.Authorities closed a portion of Sam Eig Highway following the collision. Lanes reopened shortly before 11:30 a.m.
