More than 100 Award-Winning, Best-Selling Authors to Present

WHAT: The Gaithersburg Book Festival is an annual celebration of great books and great writing that is fast becoming one of the nation’s top literary events.  In its fourth year, the festival will feature best-selling and award-winning authors, as well as local authors, a Children’s Village, presentations by poets and singer/songwriters, announcement of the high school short story contest winners, exhibitors with literary wares and on-site sales of new and used books.  Visitors of all ages also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of interactive, hands-on writing workshops.

WHEN: Saturday, May 18, 2013, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

WHERE: Grounds of Gaithersburg City Hall, 31 South Summit Ave., Gaithersburg, MD 20877

PARTNERS: The Gaithersburg Book Festival is presented in partnership with Politics & Prose, Children's Book Week, Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce, Johns Hopkins University – Montgomery County Campus, Montgomery County Public Libraries, Montgomery County Public Schools, Washington Independent Review of Books, Washingtonian Center, The Wyndham Garden Hotel Gaithersburg, Whole Foods-Kentlands, The Writer's Center and Writopia Lab, with grant support from the Maryland State Arts Council.

ATTEND: Admission is FREE.   Free parking and handicap-accessible shuttle buses are available from Lakeforest Mall. The festival will be held rain or shine.

About the Gaithersburg Book Festival

The Gaithersburg Book Festival is an annual all-day celebration of books, writers and literary excellence. Now in its fourth year, the Festival has become one of the premier literary events in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. The Festival will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013, on the grounds of Gaithersburg City Hall, in Olde Towne Gaithersburg, Md., with free shuttle buses running from Lakeforest Mall.  Activities include author appearances, discussions and book signings; writing workshops; a Children’s Village; onsite book sales, both new and used; literary exhibitors and food, drink, ice cream and more.
