Award Given For 44th Consecutive Year To Gaithersburg For Financial Reporting

The city of Gaithersburg has received a national financial reporting award for the 44th year in a row.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — For the 44th consecutive year, the city of Gaithersburg has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

The city’s comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021, and was judged by an impartial panel to meet the standards of the program. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, according to city officials.

“The residents of our community deserve the highest level of service we can offer and this award demonstrates that our commitment to transparency and excellence is recognized on a national level,” Gaithersburg City Manager Tanisha Briley said. “This award also reflects the tremendous efforts of the dedicated staff in our department of finance and administration.”
