GAITHERSBURG, MD — A cyclist was killed when she and a trash collection truck collided on Jan. 14 in Gaithersburg. Montgomery County Police say that Zhen Xiu Chen was riding west across the northbound lanes of S Frederick Avenue at the crosswalk when a Potomac Disposal Mack trash collection truck was making a right-turn from westbound South Westland Drive onto northbound S Frederick Avenue. They collided on S Frederick Avenue, police said. Chen was taken to Shady Grove Hospital, where she died. Police said this is an ongoing investigation and asked anyone with information to call the Crash Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
