Free Tax Prep For Some In Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — The Montgomery County Community Action Agency is offering free tax preparation for qualified individuals. The annual program, known as Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), is accepting applications.

Low- and moderate-income individuals who earn $56,000 annually or less are eligible to apply.

IRS-trained volunteers do the preparation, assisting taxpayers and see if they're eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Here are the locations and times:

• Mondays: 3:30 - 7:30 pm at 80A Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg
• Tuesdays: 3 - 8 pm at the TESS Community Action Center, 8513 Piney Branch Rd., Silver Spring
• Wednesdays: 11 am - 8 pm at the Community Action Agency, 1401 Rockville Pk., Suite 320, Rockville
• Thursdays: 11 am - 5 pm at the East County Regional Services Center, 3300 Briggs Chaney Rd., Silver Spring
• Thursdays: 11 am - 4 pm at WorkSource Montgomery, 12900 Middlebrook Rd., Germantown
• Fridays: 11 am - 5 pm at the Gilchrist Center, 11002 Veirs Mill Rd., Suite 506, Wheaton
