Gaithersburg Apartment Fire Displaces 1, Causes $25K In Damages

A fire late Tuesday in a Gaithersburg apartment caused $25,000 in damages and displaced one resident, a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokewoman said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the 800 block of Quince Orchard Boulevard for the report of a building fire shortly after 11 p.m., said Beth Anne Nesselt, an MCFRS spokeswoman.
The building was being evacuated as firefighters arrived and smoke was showing from a second floor apartment, Nesselt said. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and ventilated the building.

The fire, sparked by a clothes dryer, was contained to the kitchen area of the second floor apartment, she said.
The Red Cross was assisting the displaced person.
