Gaithersburg Arts Barn Seeks Summer Camp Volunteers

Volunteers will work with highly-qualified teaching artists and earn Student Service Learning (SSL) hours.

From The Arts Barn: The Arts Barn is now accepting applications for 2017 Summer Camp volunteers. Located in the heart of Kentlands, the Arts Barn offers exciting summer programs for children ages 4 to 18 in the visual and performing arts. Volunteers, who must be at least 14 years of age, will work with highly-qualified teaching artists in a variety of disciplines while earning Student Service Learning (SSL) hours and valuable experience.

Summer camps begin the week of June 21 and run through August 11. An orientation will be held at the Arts Barn on June 10. To view a list of the Arts Barn camps visit gaithersburgmd.gov. The Arts Barn is located at 311, Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is also after-camp programming from 3 to 5 p.m.

Assignments (additional jobs may be given based on camp session/need)

· Supervise campers and their safety

· Assist instructors, Camp Coordinator & Camp Manager

· Manage the sign-in/sign-out table

· Oversee lunch/recess and cleanup

· Answer questions of campers and parents

· Be a Camper Buddy (work with a camper one-on-one)

· Set up for all end-of-camp activities & receptions

Expectations

· Be punctual

· Maintain a professional demeanor

· Instill in campers the camp motto: Unlimited Imagination!

· Attend staff orientation and camp staff meetings

· Be flexible

· Maintain a positive attitude
