Gaithersburg Condo Fire Displaces Dozens Of Residents

Dozens of residents were displaced after a fire broke out in a condo complex in Gaithersburg.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Dozens of residents were displaced after a fire broke out in a condo complex in Gaithersburg Saturday morning, officials said.

Firefighters arrived at the Potomac Oaks condos at 780 Quince Orchard Blvd. just before 5 a.m. and saw heavy fire conditions.

Officials worked to extinguish the blaze and get residents out of the building quickly and safely. The fire was out by 8 a.m.

Residents were relocated to a school across the street, spokesman Pete Piringer said.

One police officer was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but there were no injuries, Piringer told Patch.

Officials are working to determine the cause of the fire at this point.
