Man Accused Of Trying To Rape Teen In Office Elevator: Police
A man is in custody following the attempted sexual assault of a teenager in an elevator, according to Montgomery County Police.
GAITHERSBURG, MD — A 26-year-old man is in custody following the attempted sexual assault of a teenager in an elevator, according to Montgomery County Police.
On Monday, June 17, 2024, shortly before 3 p.m., the female victim entered an elevator in an office building in the 800 block of Russell Avenue in Gaithersburg. The suspect, later identified as Samuel Deweh Gray Jr., allegedly began violently assaulting the victim until witnesses intervened, a police news release said.
Gray ran away, and Montgomery County Police K-9 searched the area, but were unable to locate him.

Investigators later identified Gray, who has no known address, as a possible suspect. He was arrested Tuesday, June 18, and charged with attempted first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree assault and second-degree assault.
Police said Gray is being held in the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit without bond.
