Man Arrested For Armed Rape Of Woman In 2010

A man has been arrested for the rape and armed robbery of an Asbury Methodist Village employee eight years later.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A Prince George's County man has been arrested for the rape and armed robbery of an Asbury Methodist Village employee eight years later.

Davon Gray, 30, of Upper Marlboro was arrested for the 2010 attack of an 18-year-old woman at the retirement community.

The Montgomery County Police Crime Laboratory was notified by the state of Virginia on May 1 that police submitted DNA of an arrestee into the national DNA database. The DNA belonged to Gray and matched the suspect's DNA in the 2010 rape, police said.

Police said Gray raped the employee in the women's bathroom at about 11:08 a.m. on Dec. 7, 2010. Gray allegedly grabbed the victim around her neck and placed a gun to her head while demanding her property.

Gray stole the victim's money and raped her inside the bathroom, police said. The suspect’s DNA was recovered as evidence and entered into a national law enforcement DNA database.

Subsequent investigation by cold case detectives revealed that Gray had been arrested by police on Dec. 7, 2010 for possession of a handgun in the area of Middlebrook Road and Frederick Road in Germantown.

Police arrested Gray on May 10 and charged him with first-degree rape, armed robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond.
