MD Police Sergeant Arrested For Child Porn Possession
The officer was taken into custody Thursday by the Carroll County Sheriff's Department, Montgomery County police said.
GAITHERSBURG, MD — A Montgomery County Department of Police sergeant was arrested Thursday and charged with multiple counts of child pornography possession, the agency confirmed in a statement.
Sgt. Mark Burhoe, a 20-year veteran of the department, was taken into custody by the Carroll County Sheriff's Department, police said.
When contacted by Patch, a spokesperson for the Carroll County Sheriff's Department confirmed Burhoe's arrest but declined to provide additional details about the investigation.

Montgomery County police said Burhoe has been suspended without pay, effective immediately. An internal investigation will also be conducted by Montgomery County police per department policy.
"These allegations are deeply troubling, and the alleged actions of one individual do not represent the entire department," Montgomery County police said in a statement. "Maintaining public trust remains a priority, and the department is committed to transparency and professionalism throughout this process."
