MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A 17-year-old is facing charges after police said he made threats directed at a Montgomery County school.
According to police, officers received a call on March 18 about a threatening message left on a school's voicemail. Investigators later determined the teen left a voicemail with threatening language directed toward the principal and various demographic and religious groups.
Authorities did not specify which school was targeted.

Police later identified the caller as a Montgomery County student and charged him with threats of mass violence and a hate crime related to the race or religion of a person or group.
Because the suspect is a minor, the case will be handled by the Department of Juvenile Services, police said.
