Police Find Human Remains In Rock Creek Regional Park

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Police are asking for the public's help after human remains were discovered in Rock Creek Regional Park.

According to Montgomery County police, a hiker who was in the park on March 1 found a human skull and called 911.

Montgomery County police and the Maryland National Capital Police responded to the wooded area where the skull was found and located additional human bones, along with several pieces of clothing, including a winter hat, jacket and pants. No identification was found at the scene.

The remains and clothing items were sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for analysis. It was determined they belonged to a Hispanic male in his late teens who was approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall.

Police said the cause and manner of death have not been determined.

Detectives are asking for the community’s help in identifying the deceased teen. Anyone with information that could help determine his identity should contact Montgomery County police at 301-279-8000.
