Prostitution Suspects Arrested In Gaithersburg

Gaithersburg police arrested three women Thursday and charged them with prostitution and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Two Gaithersburg women and another from New York were arrested Thursday, May 31, 2012 and charged with prostitution and possession of a controlled dangerous substance-not marijuana, according to a city press release.

Brenda Hernandez and Fabiola Lira-Gomez, both 39 and of North Summit Drive in Gaithersburg, and 50-year-old Maria Puertas of 160 Street in Fresh Meadows, NY, are currently being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center without bond.

During the month of May, Gaithersburg detectives received complaints from citizens and information from fellow officers about potential prostitution activity in the 400 block of North Summit Avenue, the release states.

Several males responding to the solicitation of females were identified during the course of the investigation and based on their information a search and seizure warrant was obtained.

According to the release, items including condoms, advertising calling cards, over $3,000 in U.S. currency, and a quantity of cocaine were recovered.
