Public Input Sought on Griffith Park Playground Proposals

Residents will have an opportunity to vote on several designs that were submitted in response to a request for proposal

The City of Gaithersburg is seeking public input on replacement playground equipment at Griffith Park on the grounds of City Hall. A community meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 6 at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Residents (including children who frequent the park) will have an opportunity to vote on several designs that were submitted in response to a request for proposal (RFP). Input from the public at a meeting in January of 2016 helped City staff develop the scope of work for the RFP, and the public is now asked to weigh in on what bidders have proposed.

Named for former Mayor John W. Griffith, Griffith Park at City Hall sits on nearly eight acres of land. Amenities include basketball and tennis courts, a picnic pavilion, an open field, a 1/2 mile pathway, and a playground with swings, a train and various climbing pieces. The existing equipment dates to the late 1990’s and is scheduled for replacement.
