A 14-year-old boy escaped from a kiddnapper Monday evening in Gaithersburg, police say.

The boy told police he was running along the sidewalk of Midsummer Drive around 7 p.m. when an unknown male exited a van and grabbed him by his arm, Gaithersburg police officer Dan Lane told Patch.

The boy pushed the male away and ran in the opposite direction away from the suspect, Lane said. The suspect then got back into the van and drove away towards Muddy Branch Road.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, with a medium complexion and muscular build, Lane said. He has short black hair, stands between 6 feet and 6 feet 1 inch, and weighs 190-210 pounds. He has a goatee, brown eyes, a round face and sideburns tht go to the middle of his ears.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white crew neck t-shirt with 3/4 length sleeves, white pants and tan boots, Lane said.

The van is described as a square style, similar to a delivery or painter van, Lane said. It is possibly a Ford or Chevy model, white in color, with the passenger and rear having a red trim along the top.

The license plate is located to the right rear of the bumper and the vehicle has round shaped brake lights and square shaped blinkers, Lane said. It has a passenger side sliding door and the wheels are solid black with no hubcaps. The front passenger side window is extremely tinted.
