Driver Thrown From Car Dies After Single Vehicle Crash In Gaithersburg

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A 60-year-old woman was killed after she lost control of her car and crashed in Gaithersburg Friday afternoon, Montgomery County Police said.

Mary Sheree Wenger was driving north on Woodfield Road between Watkins Road and Deanna Drive when she lost control and hit several fence posts on the right side of the road before crossing over the southbound lane, police said. The car left the road, and rolled over in a field area, said authorities. During the car rolling, Wenger was thrown from the car, according to a police news release.

Wenger was taken to the hospital, where she died. Authorities have not said what they believe caused her to lose control of the car.

The Montgomery County Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash and is asking anyone with information to contact its detectives at (240) 773- 6620.
